Graham McIlvaine Named to National Award Watch List

MUNCIE, Ind. -  Senior men’s volleyball setter Graham McIlvaine was selected to the inaugural Lloy Ball Award watch list which will honor the nation’s best setter. McIlvaine is one of sixteen men’s volleyball player selected to the watch list for the award named after IPFW All-American setter and four-time U.S. Olympian Lloy Ball.

McIlvaine saw action in 25 matches last season and 74 of a possible 96 sets. He ended the season ranked 18th nationally with his 9.62 assists per set average and 21st nationally with his 2.18 digs per set average. McIlvaine tallied a season-high 51 assists at NJIT last season (Jan. 18) and got under a career-high 18 digs versus Limestone (Mar. 29). The setter recorded five double doubles on the year.

The Hinsdale, Ill., native sets in eighth in Ball State history in career assists with 1,999 sets. He is 155 sets away from passing Dave Carlson for seventh place. McIlvaine’s 9.56 career assists per game average is eighth in Ball State history.

McIlvaine and the Cardinals will begin the season on Saturday, Jan. 4 when they host the two-time defending national champions UC Irvine at John E. Worthen Arena. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
