Men's Volleyball Congratulates Alumni in NCAA Tourney
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men’s volleyball coaching staff and players would like to extend congratulations to program alumni and friends competing in the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. In all 10 former players are represented in the 64-team bracket that begins Thursday, Dec. 5.
The 10 alums span eight different schools. The list includes: Michigan State associate head coach Russ Carney (’78), Kansas assistant coach Todd Chamberlain (’09), University of Southern California head coach and Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame member Mick Haley (’65), Yale assistant coach Kevin Laseau (’92), Kentucky assistant Anders Nelson (’11), Duquesne assistant coach Ethan Pheister (’10), Arkansas head coach Robert Pulliza (’96), Purdue head coach Dave Shondell (’81) and associate head coach John Shondell (’93) and Kentucky head coach Craig Skinner (’93).
Other Ball State alums participating in the tournament include Alabama head coach Ed Allen (Ball State ’88) and Wisconsin head coach Kelly Sheffield (Ball State ’01). In addition, former Ball State women’s volleyball coach Dave Boos, now the associate head coach at Florida, is another tournament participant with Ball State connections.

The Ball State men’s volleyball program will open up the season on Saturday, Jan. 4 when it hosts defending national champion UC Irvine at 7:30 p.m. at John E. Worthen Arena.
