Women's Swim and Dive Signs Seven NLIs

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women’s swimming and diving program inked seven National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Hannah Cressman, Amanda Kedzierski, Traci Muszalski, Haley Phipps, Andrea Richter, Kaiti Sullivan and Jenna Zitkus are set to join the Cardinals in the fall of 2014.

“I’d like to thank the team and coaching staff for all the time and energy provided over the past few months in order to solidify this incoming class,” said head coach Kristy Castillo. “I am really excited about signing this 2014 class of intelligent young ladies. They will be an instant impact for our program and for the MAC Conference.”

Cressman is a butterfly and mid-distance specialist from Brentwood, Tenn. The Ravenwood High School senior intends to major in journalism at Ball State.

Kedzierski, a senior at Hempfield Area High School, will specialize in the breaststroke. The Irvin, Pa., native is set to enter the broadcast journalism department at Ball State.

Muszalski, from Dyer, Ind., will swim middle distance as well as the individual medley. The Lake Central High School senior intends to major in speech pathology.

Phipps will join the diving squad. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native and senior at Northeast High School intends to major in psychological science.

Richter, the younger sister of current senior captain Haley Ricther, will join the Cardinals as a specialist in the backstroke and butterfly. The Columbia City High School senior and Roanoke, Ind., native intends to major in speech pathology.

Sullivan is a breaststroker from Greenwood, Ind. The Center Grove High School senior intends to major in psychological science.

Zitkus will join the Cardinals as a backstroke and butterfly specialist. The Park Ridge, Ill., native and Maine Township High School senior will major in dietetics and nutrition at Ball State.

“This group is eager to be a part of the Ball State family and we can’t wait for them to get started,” said Castillo. “They will mesh well with our already driven group of talented teammates. The seven young ladies have a passion for the sport and their academics that currently exists with our team, so it’s a perfect fit all around.”
