Football's Zane Fakes Named Academic All-District

Zane Fakes, a senior tight end on the Ball State football team, has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District V Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

With the selection, Fakes will now be placed on the ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which is slated to be announced Dec. 5.

Fakes, who earned his bachelor's degree from Ball State in May, has spent the fall semester working toward his master's degree.  He owns a 3.687 as an exercise science major.

Fakes started his 38th career game vs. Central Michigan in Ball State's last game and posted a career long reception of 51 yards.  On the season, he has 26 catches for 265 yards and two touchdowns.

Fakes is also a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy and appeared on the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List.  Fakes was an All-Mid-American Conference and Academic All-MAC selection last season.
