MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team will open up the 2013-14 season on Saturday, Oct. 26 vs. Ohio for a 1 p.m. dual meet. The meet will also be the team’s “Think Pink” meet to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer. The squad will also be accepting donations for Relay for Life which will take place in the spring semester.
Ball State and Ohio have not squared off in a dual meet since the 2011-12 season where the Bobcats took a 189-106 victory in Athens, Ohio. Bridgette Ruehl won the 200 breast while Hayley Richter took the 100 fly and 200 IM. The 400 free relay of Nicole Saulters, Jillian Bischoff, Carlena Magley and Emily Wisolek also took the top spot.
The Bobcats finished the 2012-13 campaign with a 6-3 dual meet record, including a 1-2 mark in MAC dual meets. Ohio finished second at the MAC Championships with 505 total points.
Ball State ended last season with a 5-2 mark in dual meets and a 2-2 record in conference action. The Cardinals finished the MAC Championships with a relay gold medal and two individual gold medalists in Ruehl (100 and 200 breast) and Mallory Miles (100 fly). Emily Wisolek earned a bronze medal in the 200 back.
