Men's Golf 10th after 36 Holes at Pinetree

KENNESAW, Ga. -- McCormick Clouser opened with a round of 69 on Monday and leads the Ball State men's golf team through 36 holes at the Pinetree Intercollegiate.

Clouser posted a two-round total of 2-over par 146 (69-77) and sits in a tie for 11th place with one round remaining. Teammate Keegan McKinney is one shot behind Clouser in a tie for 16th at 147 (72-75).

As a team, Ball State is in 10th place at 605 (+29). The Cardinals opened with a round of 300 in the morning and closed with a 305 in the afternoon at Pinetree Country Club.

Akron sits atop the team leaderboard at even-par, followed by tournament host Kennesaw State (+4) and Winthrop (+6). Akron’s Ryan Harris, who opened with a 65, owns the 36-hole lead by six strokes at 8-under.

Clouser was tied for second after his 3-under par first round. He pushed it as low as 5-under on the front nine of his second round before playing his final 12 holes in 7-over. Still, he is just four shots out of second place.

James Blackwell enters the final round third among the Cardinals with a 36-hole total of 153 (78-75), while Tyler Merkel is at 159 (81-78). Zach Yinger rounds out the lineup at 166 (83-83).

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes starting at 8 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
