MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore Allie White scored twice but it was not enough as the Ball State field hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to MAC foe Kent State Saturday afternoon at the BSU Turf Field at the Briner Sports Complex.
The Golden Flashes connected on three goals in the first half. The Cardinals would get on the board when White tallied a goal off a deflection at the 40:17 mark. Kent State would answer three minutes later while White notched her second goal of the game and fourth goal of the season at the 48:55 mark. Kent State would score once more at the 56th minute.
Sophomore Shelby Henley played the first half where she made three saves. Freshman Jordan Dues got her first action of the season and made three saves. Red-shirt sophomore Bianca Velez was credited in a defensive save late in the second half.
Ball State had eight penalty corners to Kent State's six, while the Golden Flashes were credited with 16 shots to the Cardinals' 10.
With the loss Ball State falls to 5-9 on the season and 0-3 in MAC play while Kent State improves to 7-8 on the year and 3-0 in conference action.
Ball State will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 23 when it hosts Ohio State for a 3 p.m. tilt at the BSU Turf Field at the Briner Sports Complex.
