MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women’s golf team will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule this weekend at the Hoosier Fall Invitational in Greenwood, Ind.
The Cardinals will be one of 15 teams competing on a par-71, 6,062-yard layout at Hickory Stick Golf Club. Eight of the teams in the field are ranked among the top 100 in the country, headlined by No. 22 Illinois.
The 54-hole event features two rounds Saturday beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start and the final round Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
Ball State is coming off a second-place result at The 2013 Preview, where Jenna Hague finished as the individual medalist to match the Mid-American Conference record with six career victories.
Hague, who owns a 73.18 stroke average, was one of four Cardinals to finish in the top 20 at The Preview along with seniors Sarah Westaway, Meghan Perry and Mary Welch. Karley Dobis will join that quartet of players in the lineup this weekend at Hickory Stick.
Perry was Ball State’s top finisher at last year’s Hoosier Fall Invitational with a tie for 20th at Belterra Casino and Resort in Florence, Ind.
This year’s event at Hickory Stick features two other MAC teams in Eastern Michigan and Toledo. The rest of the field includes Boston College, UC Davis, Indiana, Illinois, Illinois State, Louisville, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Xavier.
The tournament will be the fifth of the fall for Ball State, which will then break from competition for the winter before returning to action in February for the spring season.
