Golfweek Challenge on Tap for Women’s Golfers

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women’s golf team will face its strongest field yet when the Cardinals take part in this week’s Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colo.

The 54-hole event starts Monday and runs through Wednesday on the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club. Of the 18 competing teams, 11 finished last year ranked among the top 100 in the country and six were ranked in the top 50.

Ball State will be playing its third tournament of the fall, having placed second at Illinois State’s Redbird Invitational and 11th at Louisville’s Cardinal Cup.

Junior Jenna Hague leads Ball State with a pair of top-10 finishes, including a win at the Redbird Invite. With a 72.17 stroke average, she has played to a combined score of 1-over par through six rounds.

Senior Meghan Perry is second on the team with a 76.17 stroke average and also owns a top-10 finish this season.  Perry is joined in the lineup by two other seniors in Sarah Westaway and Mary Welch.

Meghan McDougall, a sophomore transfer, completes the lineup this week. McDougall will be playing in her first event for Ball State.

The full field for the tournament includes Ball State, Boston College, Central Arkansas, Denver, East Tennessee State, FIU, Harvard, Illinois State, Indiana, James Madison, Morehead State, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, San Jose State, SMU, TCU, UALR and UC Davis.
