MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team will be back in action at the BSU Turf Field on Tuesday, Sept. 10 for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Northwestern Wildcats. Live stats and a live broadcast by Sports Link Radio on WCRD will be available at ballstatesports.com.
Ball State (2-2) is coming off a split weekend having dropped a 1-0 contest to Robert Morris before picking up a 2-1 win over Colgate on Sunday. Junior Tarel Teach netted two goals for the Cardinals against the Raiders en route to the victory.
Teach and freshman Lexi Kavanaugh have both scored two goals for the Cardinals so far this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Henley has one shutout under her belt and a 2.50 goals against average that includes 41 saves.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN: Northwestern is on a four-game winning streak having most recently picked up wins over No. 16 Boston University (4-1) and Miami (Ohio) (3-0). Carolin Troncelliti and Nikki Parsley are the top goal scorers for Northwestern with four and three so far this season. Goalkeeper Maddy Carpenter has a 1.27 goals against average with 16 saves in 2013.
SERIES HISTORY: Northwestern holds a 17-7-2 record in the all-time series that dates back to the 1981 season. The last time the Cardinals took a win over the Wildcats in Muncie was on Sept. 18, 2002 when Ball State earned a 2-1 victory.
