Ball State's baseball program, under the direction of head coach Rich Maloney, welcomed back alumni and friends of the program to its Alumni Weekend 2013.
"We had an outstanding turnout of alumni for the weekend," Maloney says. "We would always love to have more back to enjoy the memories of the days they played at Ball State. The weather was outstanding for the football game, tailgate and the Sunday golf outing. We will continue to honor our alums with this weekend, and hope we can keep the event growing."
Events for the weekend included a tailgate at Ball Diamond before the football game and a golf outing at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
Ball State ended the 2013 season with a 31-24 overall record and managed a 15-12 Mid-American Conference mark. The Cardinals finished second in the MAC West Division and advanced to the MAC Tournament Championship Game.
Sophomore pitcher Scott Baker was named the MAC Pitcher of the Year, while Billy Wellman was named to the All-MAC First Team and Sean Godfrey to the all-league second team. Baker ranked fifth in the nation in victories and was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week five times in 2013.
