Nathan Ollie and Keith Wenning were named the Mid-American Conference West Division Football Players of the Week for defense and offense, respectively, after leading Ball State to a 40-14 victory over Army Saturday.
Ollie, a senior defensive tackle, tallied eight tackles with one tackle for loss and one sack in the victory over Army. He helped the Ball State defense limit Army to 7-of-20 passing for 76 yards in the game.
Wenning, a senior quarterback, completed 23-of-32 passes for 325 yards with two touchdowns in the home victory over Army. He now has 62 career touchdowns, trailing only the 74 by Nate Davis (2006-08) on Ball State’s career list. Wenning has accounted for seven touchdowns through two games with five through the air and two on the ground. He topped the 300-yard passing mark for the eighth time in his career, and the 250-yard plateau for the 13th time in his four seasons.
Ball State, 2-0 on the season under the direction of third-year head football coach Pete Lembo, will travel to North Texas for a 4 p.m. (ET) game Saturday afternoon.
