Hague, Perry Pace Women’s Golf on Fall Season Day 1

NORMAL, Ill. -- Ball State women’s golfers Jenna Hague and Meghan Perry are near the top of the leaderboard at the Redbird Invitational, while the Cardinals are tied for third place as a team through two rounds.

Ball State opened its season Sunday with the first 36 holes of the 54-hole event at Illinois State’s Weibring Golf Club. The closing round is slated for Monday with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 a.m. ET). Live scoring is available at

Hague birdied her final two holes of the day to finish with a 36-hole total of 2-under par 142 (72-70). She will enter the final round two strokes behind individual leader Lily Bartell of Bowling Green.

Perry is just five shots behind Bartell in sixth place. The senior turned in Ball State’s best first-round score with a 71, matching her career low, and then posted a second-round 74 to finish at 1-over par for the day.

As a team, Ball State followed up a morning-round 299 with a 298 in the afternoon. With a 21-over total of 597, the Cardinals are tied for third in the team race with Bradley. They are five strokes back of first-place Toledo and two shots behind second-place Bowling Green.

In addition to Hague and Perry, Ball State also counted both of Sarah Westaway’s scores on the day, a 79 and a 76. Westaway is tied for 33rd individually at 11-over par.

The Cardinals also counted a 77 from Karley Dobis in the first round and a 78 from Mary Welch in round two. Welch posted a two-round total of 160, while Dobis ended the day one stroke behind her at 161.

Kelsey Sear, competing this week as an individual, carded a 36-hole score of 163 (86-77).
