Field Hockey Secures 2-1 Win Over Colgate

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey claimed a 2-1 win over Colgate Sunday afternoon at the BSU Turf Field at the Briner Sports Complex. Junior Tarel Teach scored two goals for the Cardinals.

With the win Ball State moves to 2-2 on the season while Colgate falls to 0-4.

The Raiders got on the board early on in the game when Kelsey Jensen registered a goal in the eighth minute. Colgate kept the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Teach got the Cardinals on the leaderboard in the 48th minute. She got the ball left of the goal, dribbled around the goalie and secured the equalizer. Ten minutes later, Teach would get a pass from freshman Mikayla Mooney for the go-ahead goal.

Teach led all players with five shots, three of which were on goal. Ten Cardinals registered shots on the day.

Sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Henley had five saves on the day and got help from her defense in the form of a defensive save from junior Jenna Rosenberry. Colgate’s goalie made seven saves on the day.

Ball State outshot Colgate 19-13 and had 10 penalty corners to the Raiders’ four.

The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they host the Wildcats from Northwestern at 3 p.m. If you can’t make it out to the game you can listen in on 91.3 WCRD or stream the broadcast live on WCRD.net.
