Field Hockey Falls to James Madison, 8-1

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Ball State field hockey team fell to James Madison 8-1 Sunday afternoon. Ball State was led by freshman forward Lexi Kavanaugh who scored her first collegiate goal.

Kavanaugh scored her goal in the 58th minute unassisted. Both of her shots for the day were on goal. Junior midfielder Tarel Teach took two shots with one on goal. Sophomores Bethany Han and Natalie Jardell and freshman Bryce Barnes and Merinda Morley each were credited with a shot.

Sophomore goalie Shelby Henley made 14 saves on the day. The Dukes outshot the Cardinals 32-8 with 22 shots on goal to BSU’s eight. James Madison had 11 penalty corners while Ball State had three.
