Ball State's Joel Godett previews the football team's running backs as the countdown continues for the 2013 season opener Thurs., Aug. 29, vs. Illinois State.

The Cardinals return their top two running backs in Jahwan Edwards and Horactio Banks, who combined for nearly 2,000 rushing yards in 2012, under the tutelage of running backs coach and special teams coordinator Justin Lustig.

Edwards gained 1,410 yards in 13 games for a 108.5 yards-per-game average, while leading Ball State with 14 rushing touchdowns. 

Banks rushed for 586 yards in 11 games for an average of 53.3 yards per game and a total of four rushing TDs on the season.

Ball State, under the direction of third-year head coach Pete Lembo, opens the season at Scheumann Stadium in a "White Out" game at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
