Soccer Scores Late, Falls in Exhibition at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Ball State soccer team fell 3-2 on the road Friday at Butler in its tuneup for 2013 season.

The Cardinals and Bulldogs met in an exhibition contest at the Butler Bowl. Ball State will open its regular season in one week with an Aug. 23 home game against Northern Iowa at the Briner Sports Complex.

Sophomores Erin Greeley and Elaina Musleh, a Kentucky transfer, scored the Ball State goals Friday at Butler. Both came in the final six minutes of the game as the Cardinals tried to mount a late comeback.

Butler scored a first half goal by Paige Johnson and added two more early in the second half from McKenzie Muchow and Elise Kostakis.

Greeley's goal for Ball State came in the 85th minute, and Musleh's followed just minutes later to end the scoring for the game.

Ball State goalkeepers Layne Schramm and Brooke Dennis each played a half in goal for the Cardinals with Schramm taking the first and Dennis the second.
