MUNCIE, Ind. - - With its sights set on returning to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the past three seasons, the Ball State women’s volleyball team officially opened its 2013 preseason practice schedule Wednesday morning at Worthen Arena.
Under the direction of fourth-year head coach Steve Shondell, the 2010 MAC Coach of the Year, the Cardinals return 10 letterwinners from last season's squad, including four starters and the team's libero. Added to the mix will be three true freshmen, as well as a pair of incoming transfers.
Highlighting the team’s returning players is a five-member senior class comprised of outside hitter Kylee Baker (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North), libero Catie Fredrich (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls), setter Jacqui Seidel (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), opposite attacker Lauren Grant (Eagan, Minn./Eastview) and middle hitter Mindy Marx (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven).
Ball State finished an injury-riddled 2012 season with a 14-17 overall record, which included a 7-9 mark in league play.
