DAYTON, Ohio -- Ball State women's golfer Jenna Hague won two matches Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Women's Western Golf Association National Amateur Championship at Dayton Country Club.

Hague defeated NC State's Brittany Marchand, 2 and 1, Thursday morning in the round of 32. She then bested Christine Meier of Michigan State in 20 holes Thursday afternoon.

The rising junior from Burlington, Ontario, will compete in the quarterfinals Friday with a 7 a.m. tee time against Ohio State freshman-to-be Jessica Porvasnik. The winner will advance to the semifinal round Friday afternoon. The 36-hole championship match will be played Saturday.

Hague is one of four Ball State golfers who were in the field this week. She and teammate Meghan Perry each earned a spot in the 64-player championship flight of match play after two rounds of stroke-play qualifying earlier in the week.

Hague then won her first-round match Wednesday over incoming Arizona State freshman Mikayla Harmon. Perry lost in her first match-play contest but stayed around to caddie Thursday for Hague.

Ball State's Sarah Westaway and Karley Dobis, who were placed into different consolation flights after their stroke-play results, are also still alive. They will each play in the semifinals of their respective flights Friday morning, looking to advance to the finals later in the afternoon.

The Women's Western Amateur is one of the oldest and most prestigious women's amateur tournaments in the United States, having been contested since 1901. It counts among its champions eventual LPGA standouts Nancy Lopez, Beth Daniel, Cristie Kerr, Grace Park and Stacey Lewis.
