MUNCIE, Ind. -- The NCAA has announced the pairings for the first two rounds of next week’s NCAA Men’s Golf Championships at the Capital City Club outside Atlanta.

Ball State will play Tuesday and Wednesday in groups with Texas Tech and Coastal Carolina at the club’s Crabapple Course, where Tiger Woods won the 2003 World Golf Championships.

The Cardinals will go off the first tee for Tuesday’s opening round with tee times from 8:40-9:20 a.m. They will then go off the 10th tee in Wednesday’s second round from 2-2:40 p.m.

The teams will be re-grouped for Thursday’s third and final round of stroke play based on the results from the first 36 holes of the tournament.

At the conclusion of 54 holes of stroke play, an individual national champion will be crowned and the field will be cut to the top eight teams. Those remaining eight will be placed into a bracket for three days of match play, culminating with the championship match on June 2.

Ball State will enter the NCAA Championships seeded No. 30, but the Cardinals proved last week in Pullman, Wash., that your seed at the beginning doesn’t matter much. Ball State was the No. 10 seed of 14 teams in Pullman but managed to grab the fifth and final qualifying spot at that regional in a playoff with San Diego State.

Now the Cardinals are headed to Atlanta to compete in the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1986. Ball State is one of just three Midwest teams still alive, joining Kent State and Illinois. The Cardinals and the Golden Flashes give the Mid-American Conference two of the 30 teams still playing.

Live Coverage
Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament at A live web stream for portions of Thursday’s final stroke play round will be streamed live on from 3-8 p.m. Portions of match play Friday through Sunday will also be streamed.

Daily tickets are $15 for adults ($10 for youths and seniors), while complete tournament ticket books are available for $50 ($35 for youths and seniors). Tickets can be ordered online at or by calling 888-TECH-TIX.
