Wild and Sanders Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Sophomore Courtney Wild of the Ball State women’s tennis team earned First Team Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors while teammate junior Kristel Sanders received All-MAC Honorable Mention.

Courtney Wild is very deserving of this honor,” said Ball State women’s tennis coach Christine Bader. “Courtney had a great year academically and athletically. She is the definition of a great student-athlete. Also, I am proud of Kristel for receiving honorable mention. Both these girls work hard on and off the court.”

This is the first time Wild and Sanders have received an academic award from the MAC.  Wild is a two-time First Team All-MAC honoree.  Both Wild and Sanders also garnered MAC Player of the Week awards this season.  Wild was also named to the All-MAC Tournament team.

The Cardinals ended their 2013 season after suffering a 4-0 loss in the MAC Tournament semifinals to the Miami RedHawks.  Ball State had not reached the MAC semifinals since 1998.  The Cardinals were the only team in league action to defeat Miami in regular season action.
