Ball State third-year head football coach Pete Lembo has announced the addition of three new members to the Cardinals support staff.
Jackson Boyd and Tilmon Clark have been named assistant directors of football operations, while Kyle Gilbert has been named a graduate assistant for the football strength and conditioning program.
"Jackson made a positive impact on our off field operations last year and is well deserving of this promotion," Lembo says. "Tilmon is an Indiana native that has built strong relationships with our staff the last two years. He will be an asset to our operations and recruiting moving forward. Kyle is a sharp young guy that will be a nice compliment to Dave Feeley in the weight room."
Boyd, who spent the 2012 season as a graduate assistant for operations at Ball State, has been named an assistant director of football operations and will focus primarily on internal operations with the team. A 2010 graduate of Indiana, Boyd spent the 2011 season as a graduate assistant at Widener where he served as an assistant linebacker coach and video coordinator. In the summer of 2011, Boyd served as a training camp player personnel intern for the National Football League's Philadelphia Eagles. Boyd, who also worked in customer relations with the Indianapolis Colts in 2010, was a student intern for Indiana. He has also worked as an intern at NFL Regional Combines and Elite Pro Football Combines.
Clark, an Indiana native and Earlham graduate, has been named an assistant director of football operations and will focus primarily on external operations with the team. Clark spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Valdosta State where he helped coach the linebackers and specialists. He helped Valdosta State to a 12-2 overall record last season and the NCAA Division II National Championship. Clark spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons as an assistant coach at Butler Community College and helped them to an 11-1 overall record and a runner-up finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships. As a collegiate student-athlete at Earlham, Clark was a three-year starter and served as a team captain in his career from 2005-09. He was also a four-year starter in baseball for the Quakers.
Gilbert, a graduate and former football letterwinner at Ohio Northern, spent the 2012 season as a recruiting assistant and co-coordinator of football and basketball strength and conditioning at Ohio Northern. He spent the 2011 season as a strength and conditioning intern at Ohio State. After graduating from Ohio Northern in December of 2010, Gilbert served as the assistant weight room coordinator at his alma mater before heading to Ohio State. As a student-athlete at Ohio Northern, Gilbert was a team captain as a senior and earned three letters as a linebacker.
