Two members of the Ball State baseball team -- Cody Campbell and Billy Wellman -- have been named to the 11-member Capital One Academic All-District V Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Campbell, who owns a 3.92 cumulative grade-point average on Ball State's 4.0 scale as a pre-med major, was selected as a designated hitter. Campbell is batting .299 batting average and leads the team with 34 runs-batted-in in 2013. He is second on the Cardinals with 63 total bases and 11 doubles. Campbell has 11 multi-hit games and leads the team with 10 multi-RBI contests.
Wellman, who owns a 3.91 cumulative GPA as an exercise science major, is batting .288 for the Cardinals. He is second for Ball State with 28 RBI and 13 multi-RBI games, while Wellman is tied for second on the squad with 11 multi-hit contests. Wellman is tied for third on the team with 10 doubles plus has two home runs this season.
Campbell and Wellman will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Baseball Team ballot, and the team will be announced May 20.
