HILLSDALE, Mich. - - Senior distance runner MaryKate Mellen posted her second Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championship qualifying mark in as many weeks to lead the Ball State track & field team at the 47th Annual Hillsdale College Gina Relays.
Mellen placed third in the 800m run championship race with a career-fast time of 2:12.05 to beat the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship qualifying mark by .01 of a second.
Overall, Ball State’s student-athletes posted eight career-best performances at the meet, as well as eight top 10 efforts over its two days of competition at the non-scored.
Ball State’s student-athletes have one more chance to qualify for the upcoming MAC Championships when it closes out the regular season by heading back to Bloomington for the Billy Hayes Invitational (May 3).
The 2013 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held May 9-11 at Akron’s Lee R. Jackson Track & Field Complex.
