MUNCIE, Ind. - The No. 4 Ball State women's tennis team (15-11) ended its season in the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals after suffering a 4-0 loss against No. 1 Miami (12-12) Saturday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.

The Cardinals fell behind early as Ball State dropped the doubles point to the RedHawks at the start of the match.  Nimisha Mohan and Alix Thurman defeated Kristel Sanders and Bethany Moore at No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-3.  The Miami twosome of Ramona Costea and Christiana Raymond  claimed the doubles point with their 8-2 win over Paola Rodriguez and Kristel Sanders on court three doubles.

After that, Raymond took the straight set match from Rodriguez at the No. 3 singles position to put Miami up 2-0 over Ball State.  Guerazzi would take the 6-0, 6-2 decision from Sanders on court four and Ana Rajkovic claimed the match for the RedHawks after a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles against Moore.

Despite the loss the Cardinals win Friday over Western Michigan advanced Ball State to the MAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 1998 under third year head coach Christine Bader.  Ball State was also the lone team to upset the RedHawks in MAC regular season action this year.

Miami will advance to the MAC Tournament championship match Sunday against the winner of No. 2 Bowling Green versus No. 3 Akron.  The championship match will be played at 12 p.m. at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.  If inclement weather were to occur the match will be moved indoors to the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
