SCOUTING BALL STATE:  The Cardinals are 17-19 overall and 6-9 in the Mid-American Conference after posting a win at No. 19 Indiana and suffering losses in two out of three games at Miami University last week . . . Ball State's midweek games at Michigan State and vs. Valparaiso were both cancelled due to inclement weather.

SCOUTING OHIO:  The Bobcats are 10-29 overall and 5-10 in the Mid-American Conference . . . Ohio tallied a 9-1 home win over Morehead State Tuesday and suffered a 4-2 loss at Marshall Wednesday . . . In last weekend's MAC action, Ohio suffered two losses in the three game series vs. Northern Illinois in Athens, Ohio.

THE SERIES:  Ball State and Ohio have met 99 times in baseball with the Bobcats holding a 57-42 all-time advantage . . . Ball State won the last meeting by a 4-3 margin in the final game of last year's three game weekend series . . . Ohio tallied an 11-9 and 6-1 victory in the first two contests . . . The Cardinals have won two of the last three home games in the series after tallying two victories in the three meetings in 2011 . . . The series dates back to 1969.

MALONEY MILESTONESRich Maloney, who tallied his 600th career victory in Ball State's win at Lipscomb Feb. 23, tallied his 300th career conference victory April 6 at his alma mater, Western Michigan . . . Maloney served as Ball State's head coach from 1996-2002 and Michigan's head mentor from 2003-12 before returning to the Cardinals . . . He owns a 303-175 career record in conference games between the Big Ten Conference and Mid-American Conference . . . In addition, Maloney owns a 147-69 record in MAC games and needs three wins to reach the 150 win mark in MAC contests.

NATIONAL RANKINGS:  Scott Baker ranks sixth in the nation in victories with eight . . . . Baker and Chris Marangon are tied for 21st nationally in games started with 10 apiece . . . Baker is 32nd in the country with three complete games and ranks 42nd in the nation with 66 strikeouts . . . Baker is 70th in the country with a 1.82 earned-run average . . . Ball State is 83rd in the country with 1.81 doubles per game.
