Soccer Team Wins Two More To Close Spring Season

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team closed its spring schedule Saturday with two more wins at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Cardinals opened the day with a 3-1 victory over St. Joseph's (Ind.) and later posted a 4-2 win over Indiana Tech.

Ball State concluded its spring slate undefeated at 7-0-2 with wins in its final five games, including a victory two weeks ago against the Haiti Women's National Team.

“We were very happy today with scoring off some set pieces we had been working on of late,” Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. “Each one of our players really developed this spring through the experiences of playing the variety of opponents we played.”

Nicole Pembleton, Lindsay Kempf and Kalynn Flanagan accounted for Ball State's three goals in the win over St. Joseph's.

Flanagan scored again in the victory over Indiana Tech, while Becca Sutton, Cailey Starck and Victoria Jacobs also added goals as Ball State polished off another win.

“We are delighted with an undefeated spring season,” Roberts said. “Our confidence is growing, and our team camaraderie is better than ever. We have identified some areas we still need to improve, and we are confident we will be able to do that.

“With the girls we have returning and the new additions we will have to our roster in the fall, we are looking forward to a promising 2013 season.”
