Reder Signs Pro Contract With Seattle Sounders Women

Brigit Reder, who completed her collegiate career with the Ball State soccer team last fall, recently signed a professional contract with the Seattle Sounders Women of the W-League.

The former Ball State defender spent time on the preseason roster with the Western New York Flash of the National Women’s Soccer League this spring before signing with the Sounders.

Reder’s new team is currently in the midst of its exhibition schedule. The W-League regular season gets underway in late May and runs through the middle of July.

“We are pleased to add Brigit Reder to our squad this season,” Seattle head coach Hubert Busby Jr. said in the team’s release about Reder’s signing. “Brigit has tremendous leadership qualities, and technically she fits into the philosophy of how we want our defenders to play.”

Reder, who played for Ball State from 2009-12, was an All-Mid-American Conference performer. She ranks atop the Cardinals' all-time list for minutes played and is tied for seventh in school history with 11 goals scored from her position on the back line.

The West Chester, Ohio, native now finds herself playing for the same organization that has previously featured several of the world’s top players. United States Women’s National Team members Hope Solo, Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe have all spent time on the roster for the Sounders Women.
