Scott Baker, a pitcher on the Ball State baseball team, was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals 6-1 over Central Michigan Saturday.
Baker shared this week's honor with Eli Anderson, a pitcher from Northern Illinois. This marks the fourth time this season Baker has won or shared the weekly award.
Baker improved to 8-0 on the season after pitching a complete game victory in Ball State’s 6-1 win over Central Michigan Saturday. He allowed only one earned run on six hits, while striking out 10 en route to the victory. Baker, who ranks second in the nation in victories, owns a 1.91 earned-run average on the season. He held Central Michigan to a .188 batting average Saturday and is holding opponents to a .226 mark in his nine appearances this season.
The Cardinals host Indiana Tech and Indiana in midweek games before travelling to Oxford, Ohio, for a three-game series beginning Friday.
