CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced the 2013 Women’s Swimming and Diving Academic All-MAC Team today, as voted by the faculty athletic representatives from the member MAC institutions. Four Cardinals were named to the list.
Making the list for Ball State were First Team All-MAC honorees Mallory Miles and Bridgette Ruehl, Second Team All-MAC team member Emily Wisolek and Ball State co-captain Cori Vormohr. This is the second year that Miles and Wisolek have been honored.
The 25 member team was highlighted of All-MAC First and Second team members from the 2013 season. Amongst them were the 2013 Outstanding Diver, Danielle Hulvey, 2013 Outstanding Swimmer, Brittney Kuras and the 2013 Outstanding Senior, Briana Emig. Emig and Hulvey, along with honoree Bridgette Ruehl from Ball State all represented the Mid-American Conference at the 2013 NCAA Championships in March.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season are only considered.
