First Serve: The Ball State men's tennis team (13-7, 2-0 MAC) hosts two Mid-American Conference matches this weekend at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. The Cardinals will host Western Michigan (16-8, 2-1 MAC) Saturday and Chicago State (1-19, 0-2 MAC) Sunday. The match Saturday will begin at 1 p.m. The match Sunday starts at 11 a.m. Ball State is currently tied for first in the MAC standings with Buffalo.
Second Serve: Sophomore Patrick Elliott was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week after he went 2-0 in singles action last week he pulled off a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over No. 27 Notre Dame's Michael Moore in non-conference action April 1. He then closed out the week with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Northern Illinois' Max Phillips Saturday, helping the Cardinals sweep the Huskies for the 7-0 MAC win. Elliott also went 2-0 in doubles action.
Note: Ball State will pay tribute to its four seniors, Dalton Albertin, Cliff Morrison, Alexandre Brym and Austin Sansone, Saturday before the Western Michigan match. All matches will be played at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center this weekend. If inclement weather were to occur, the matches will be moved indoors to the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
