Cody Campbell, a junior member of the Ball State baseball team, has been selected as the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
The weekly honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week’s competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.
Campbell, a business administration major with a 3.918 cumulative grade-point average on Ball State's 4.0 scale, batted .438 in four games last week and helped Ball State to a 2-1 series win at Western Michigan in Mid-American Conference action.
Campbell was 7-for-16 with seven runs-batted-in, four runs scored, two doubles and nine total bases in the four contests last week -- a home game vs. Northern Kentucky and the three games at WMU. He managed a .563 slugging percentage with one sacrifice hit and was 1-for-1 on stolen bases on the week.
Campbell was also named the MAC West Division Player of the Week for his performance in last week's contests.
Ball State will host Central Michigan in a three-game MAC series this weekend with Friday's first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Ball Diamond. Saturday's and Sunday's games will begin at 1 p.m., and admission to all Ball State regular season baseball games are free of charge.
