Menís Golf Halves Dual Match with UT Arlington

FORT WORTH -- The Ball State men’s golf team halved its dual match Saturday against UT Arlington at Waterchase Golf Club.

The Cardinals won two of the five individual matches, dropped two and halved the other as each team finished the day with two and a half points. It was an unofficial match for both teams with the results not counting toward rankings.

Tyler Merkel and Brodie Williams posted the two victories for Ball State with Merkel downing his opponent, 6 and 5, and Williams topping his, 2 and 1. Joe Gasser and Alex Stinson dropped their matches, while McCormick Clouser halved his.

Ball State entered Saturday’s action ranked No. 46 nationally by Golfweek, while UT Arlington checked in at No. 93.

The Cardinals will remain in the Dallas area and compete in the Jim West Intercollegiate at TPC Craig Ranch. The event, hosted by Texas State, will be played Monday and Tuesday.
