MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis steam shutout Northern Illinois 7-0 in Mid-American Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
With the win Ball State improved to 13-7 overall and 2-0 in MAC action.
The Cardinals took the doubles point after the No. 1 twosome of Ray Leonard and Patrick Elliott won their match 8-1 over Max Phillips and Axel Lagerlof. Dalton Albertin paired up with Cliff Morrison winning their match against Simon Formont and Dor Amir by a score of 8-6 to clinch the doubles point for Ball State.
Ball State won all six singles matches. Morrison, Albertin, Arconda, Elliott and Smith all won in straight sets in their respective positions. Leonard lost his first set 6-3 against Lagerlof but fought back and won the match 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 position.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action at home Saturday, April 13 when it hosts Western Michigan at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. First serve is at 1 p.m.
