MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team is set to host the Haiti Women’s National Team for a 3 p.m. contest Saturday at the Briner Sports Complex.
Admission is free for the game, which is part of the Cardinals’ spring schedule. Ball State owns a 2-0-2 record so far this spring.
Haiti is one of the top national teams in the Caribbean region. The team is coached by Shek Borkowski, who also coaches the FC Indiana women's professional team based out of Indianapolis.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our program and community to be exposed to soccer at the national level, and we are looking forward to hosting Haiti at the Briner Sports Complex,” Ball State coach Craig Roberts said.
“It will be a fantastic student-athlete experience competing against players at the pinnacle of their nation. They have a major degree of experience which will challenge us, but we are embracing the exciting opportunity.”
Haiti is spending some time competing in the United States and most recently played an international friendly Wednesday against the Mexico Under-20 National Team in South Bend, Ind. The Mexican team won that game 1-0.
