MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team will host the Haiti Women's National Team as part of its spring schedule April 6.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the Briner Sports Complex. Admission is free.
"This is an excellent opportunity for our program and community to be exposed to soccer at the national level, and we are looking forward to hosting Haiti at the Briner Sports Complex," Ball State coach Craig Roberts said.
"It will be a fantastic student-athlete experience competing against players at the pinnacle of their nation. They have a major degree of experience which will challenge us, but we are embracing the exciting opportunity."
One of the top women's national teams in the Caribbean region, Haiti's program has had to fight back from the devastating earthquake that struck the country in 2010. The tragedy killed 30 members of the Haitian Football Federation, including the women’s coach.
The current coach for Haiti is Shek Borkowski, who also coaches the FC Indiana women's professional team based out of Indianapolis.
Ball State is currently unbeaten on its spring schedule at 2-0-2. The April 6 meeting with Haiti is one of three dates remaining on the Cardinals' spring slate:
