T&F Opens Outdoor Season At Polar Bear Invite

   MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women’s track & field team opens the 2013 outdoor season Saturday, when it travels up I-69 to Marion, Ind., for the Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.

   In addition to the Cardinals and Wildcats, other teams schedule to compete in Saturday’s meet include Adrian, Albion, Grace, Goshen, Hillsdale, Huntington, IUPUI and St. Francis (Ind.).

   Ball State, which collected 12 event victories at last season’s Polar Bear Invitational, returns three event winners from last season’s meet led by senior sprinter Janae Taylor, who returns for the 2013 outdoor season for the Cardinals.

   At last year’s Polar Bear Invite, Taylor took home first place in the 200m dash (25.33), placed second in the 100m dash (12.30) and was a member of the first place 4x100m (48.14) and 4x400m (4:00.94) relays.

   Senior MaryKate Mellen returns to defend her title in the 1500m run (4:45.44), while sophomore Hannah Ciasto-Poor is the defending pole vault champion (10-6/3.20m).
