MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team posted a pair of shutout victories Saturday in its first action of the spring at the Briner Sports Complex.
The Cardinals took down Findlay, 3-0, to open the day and then defeated Southern Indiana, 2-0. Both contests consisted of two 35-minute halves.
Veteran Ball State players Maimee Morris and Nicole Pembleton each scored two goals on the day, while newcomer Jenna Finke -- a transfer from Murray State -- also scored.
Goalkeeper Layne Schramm was between the posts for both Ball State victories.
"I was very pleased with the way we played today," Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. "The girls were able to implement a lot of the strategies and tactics we have been working on. We were unified as a team and had good chemistry out there."
In the opening game against Findlay, Morris struck for each of Ball State's first two goals, while Pembleton added the third score.
Later on against Southern Indiana, Finke notched the first goal and Pembleton recorded the second.
The Cardinals will continue their spring slate Saturday, March 23 at with a round-robin event at the Briner Sports Complex starting at 1 p.m. A game against Ball State alumni will follow at 4:15 p.m.
