Men's Volleyball Team Sweeps King

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Ball State men’s volleyball team earned its third-consecutive win after earning a 3-0 sweep of King (25-10, 25-18, 25-18). Outside hitter Jamion Hartley and middle hitter Kevin Owens led the way for the Cardinals with eight kills each.

Hartley hit a .429 clip (8-2-14) while Owens managed a .727 (8-0-11). Owens was also able to get two assisted blocks. Setters Graham McIlvaine and Dan Wichmann both saw action with McIlvaine earning 20 assists while Wichmann was credited with 12.

The Cardinals served 12 aces on the evening with senior Greg Herceg leading the charge with three aces. Matt Leske, Shane Witmer and McIlvaine each got two aces.

Several Cardinals were able to see time on the floor including Julian Welsh-White, David Ryan Vander Meer, Bobby Renaud, Marcin Niemczewski and Jon Clawson.

Ball State outhit King .364 (38-14-66) to .185 (24-12-65). Ball State also held the advantage in blocks (3-0), digs (24-8), service aces (12-2), assists (33-22) and kills (38-14).

With the win Ball State improves to 12-5 on the year and a spotless 9-0 in non-conference action. King falls to 9-15 on the campaign.
