MUNCIE, Ind. - - After turning in a pair of strong outings at last weekend's FAU Classic (March 1-3), Ball State freshman pitcher Kelsey Schifferdecker was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Schifferdecker, who earns the award for the first time in her career, shared the honor with Central Michigan's Kristen Kuhlman.
In two appearances at the FAU Classic hosted by Florida Atlantic, Schifferdecker tallied a 0.75 ERA over 9.1 innings of work. She held opposing batters to a .281 average, while striking out two batters and yielding just one earned run.
Schifferdecker picked up a 9-1 (6 inning) win over league rival Eastern Michigan (March 2) as she limited the Eagles to just four hits and one earned run over six innings of work.
In her first outing against Harvard (March 1), she helped the Cardinals try to rally from down seven runs as she limited the Crimson to just five hits and no runs over 3.1 innings of work.
