MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf team returns to action Sunday with the first round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C.
The 54-hole tournament will be contested over three days at Pinehurst Resort. The first and third rounds will be played on Pinehurst's No. 6 course, while the middle round will be played on the famed No. 2 course that has hosted major championships.
The field for the tournament also includes Belmont, Campbell, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Miami University, Ohio, Old Dominion, Richmond, UNC-Greensboro, Toledo, VCU, Villanova, Winthrop and Xavier.
The Cardinals check in at No. 35 in the latest Golfweek rankings. Ball State's lineup for the event will include Tyler Merkel, McCormick Clouser, Alex Stinson, Joe Gasser and Tony Lazzara. Brodie Williams will compete as an individual.
The action gets underway Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Lazzara, the first Cardinal to tee off, will get his round started shortly after 10 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
The Pinehurst Intercollegiate will be the first stroke play event of the spring for Ball State, which hosted the Mid-American Match Play in Florida in February. The Cardinals finished runner-up at that event, and Clouser posted a 3-0-0 record individually.
