CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference named freshman guard Nathalie Fontaine to the All-MAC Second Team and junior guard Brandy Woody to the All-MAC Third Team MAC.  Fontaine was also selected to the MAC All-Freshman team.

"I'm thrilled for both Nathalie and Brandy," said Ball State women's basketball coach Brady Sallee. "They deserve the recognition and have both worked extremely hard to help get our program to the position it is in. I think they would both be the first to tell you that without their teammates, they would not have experienced the level of success they did this season. With that being said, we are all proud if their accomplishments."

Fontaine is the first freshman to receive the honor since 2000 when Tamara Bowie earned the same accolades.  Fontaine leads the Cardinals in scoring (13.3 ppg) and in rebounds (6.4).  She garnered back-to-back MAC West Player of the Week honors (2/4 & 2/11) earlier this season.  Fontaine leads all MAC freshmen in scoring (13.9 ppg) in league games only and overall (13.3 ppg).  She has led the Cardinals in scoring 20 times this season.  Fontaine is 55 points behind what Ball State's all-time leading scorer Tamara Bowie has when she was a true freshman.  Fontaine currently has scored 373 points and her career high is 23 for the season, while Bowie tallied 432 points as a freshman.

Woody is the sixth Cardinal to receive All-MAC Third Team honors and the first since the 2011 season.  Woody ranks second on the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game, along with dishing out a team high 107 assists and 71 steals.  She earned MAC Weekly honors (1/28) earlier this season.  Woody scored a career-best 29 points along with a career-high performance in steals (7) in the Cardinals win at Buffalo (69-55).  She pulled down a career high 13 rebounds in Ball State's victory over Western Michigan (3/3).

The Ball State women's basketball team will advance straight to the semifinals as the No. 2 seed in next week's 2013 MAC Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cardinals will play their first tournament game Friday after finishing the regular season with a 12-4 MAC record (15-14 overall).

Ball State has not received a bye the MAC Tournament in at Quicken Loans Arena since 2009, when the Cardinals won the event as the No. 2 seed.
