Gymnasts Lose at Kent State



Ball State's women's gymnastics team suffered a 196.250 to 192.100 loss at Kent State Friday night.  With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the Mid-American Conference.

Leah Wilson managed Ball State's top performance at the meet with a third place showing in the balance beam with a 9.775 mark.

Brittney Emmons placed second in the all-around with a 38.025 mark, including a tie for fifth in the vault with a 9.80 mark.  Emmons was the Cardinals top finisher on the bars with a 9.750 and tied for fifth on the floor with a 9.825.  She tied for fifth on the floor with a 9.825, and tied for the Cardinals top effort on the floor.

Nicole Allen and Erin Patchey tied Emmons on the vault with 9.80 marks, while Denasiha Christian tied Emmons on the floor with a 9.825.

Ball State will bid farewell to its seniors -- Nicole Allen, Tiffany Brodbeck, Morgan Coslow, Brittney Emmons and Emily Wehrle -- in the Cardinals final home meet of the season Sunday vs. Kentucky.

Kentucky is 3-3-1 on the season with all seven meets being against Southeastern Conference opponents. The Wildcats produced their best performance of the season in their final SEC regular season meet last Friday. Kentucky finished with a total score of 196.075 against the top-ranked Florida Gators. Though the Wildcats dropped the meet 196.975-196.075, UK's score was good for the sixth best in program history

Ball State owns a top team score this season of 194.50, which it scored in its victory over Central Michigan, which had entered the meet ranked 19th in the country.
