WBB Travels to CMU for MAC West Showdown Thursday

What's On Tap:  Ball State is looking for its third straight win, when it plays at Central Michigan Wednesday in McGuirk Arena.  The Cardinals recently swept their Mid-American Conference series against Northern Illinois Saturday, Feb. 23 by a score of 64-54 in Worthen Arena.  Ball State moved into second place in the MAC standings after Central Michigan lost 76-63 to Toledo Sunday, Feb. 24.  This is the second time the Cardinals have faced Central Michigan this season.  Ball State won the first meeting 68-61 against the Chippewas Feb. 7.  The Cardinals own a 13-13 overall mark and are 10-3 in league action.  The Chippewas are 16-10 overall and 10-3 in the MAC. 

About Central Michigan:  Central Michigan rebounded from its loss at Ball State Feb. 7, winning three in a row with wins over Buffalo (86-51) Feb. 10, Miami (72-60), Feb. 16 and Western Michigan (77-53) Feb. 20.  The Chippewas are undefeated in Mid-American Conference action in games that CMU has scored 70 or more points against league opponents.  The Chippewas have three players scoring in double figures; Crystal Bradford (15.0 ppg), Jessica Green (11.8 ppg) and Jessica Schroll (10.4 ppg).  Bradford tops the team in rebounding with 9.4.  If the MAC Tournament were to be played today Central Michigan would be the third seed behind Toledo and Ball State.

The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State.   Sallee's career coaching record is 149-122 and he is 13-13 overall and 10-3 in the MAC with the Cardinals.  He was named the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10.  During his tenure at Eastern Illinois, Sallee posted a 136-109 career record.  He led the Panthers to the institution's first-ever Ohio Valley Conference title during the 2009-10 campaign. In 2011-12, Eastern Illinois was 22-9 overall, posted a 13-3 OVC mark and competed in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.  Sue Guevara is currently in her sixth season as the head women's basketball coach of the Chippewas.  She has has rebuilt Central Michigan back to its former glory, contending for championships in the Mid-American Conference. The Chippewas have won 70 games in the last four seasons, including the fifth 20-win campaign in program history in 2011-12.  Guervara's coaching record at CMU is 89-90 and she owns a 42-43 MAC record.
