ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Ball State men’s volleyball team drop a 3-0 match to No. 12 Lewis (25-20, 25-23, 25-17) Friday evening. Senior Greg Herceg led the way for the Cardinals with 12 kills.
The Cardinals fall to 8-4 on the season and 3-4 in the MIVA while the Flyers improve to 10-5 and 6-0 in conference action.
Herceg had his ninth match of the season with a double-digit kill mark. The senior outside attacker knocked in two aces and had four digs.
Sophomore Shane Witmer and junior Kevin Owens tallied six and five kills. Junior setter Graham McIlvaine registered 24 assists to go with three kills, six digs and two total blocks. Senior libero Tommy Rouse had seven digs and three assists.
The Flyers were led by Jay Petty who had a match-high 13 kills while Bobby Walsh had seven total blocks.
Lewis outhit Ball State .299 to .099 and tallied 40 kills to BSU’s 32. The Flyers got under 30 digs to the Cardinal’s 27 and out-blocked BSU 15-5.
