MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's golf team begins its spring season Sunday with the first two rounds of the Jim West Challenge in Blanco, Texas.
The event, hosted by Texas State, will feature 12 teams and a total of 54 holes over two days. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com from the par-72, 6,100-yard layout at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.
The tournament includes four teams currently ranked among the top 100 nationally in the Golfstat rankings -- four-time defending champion No. 39 Texas State, No. 53 East Tennessee State, No. 94 Eastern Michigan and No. 98 Arkansas State.
Ball State itself is not far from the top 100 at No. 112 by Golfweek (119 Golfstat) after an impressive fall campaign that included three team tournament championships. The Cardinals closed the fall with two straight wins at The Preview and Santa Clara's Colby Invitational.
Hague led the Cardinals during the fall season with a 76.17 stroke average, followed by Perry (77.17), Zoe Camus (78.25) and Autumn Duke (78.58). Those four will join Sarah Westaway in the lineup this week, while freshman Karley Dobis will compete as an individual.
The tournament gets underway with 36 holes Sunday and wraps up with the final 18 holes Monday. Play is scheduled to start at 8:15 a.m. both days.
This week's field also includes: Middle Tennessee (102), Illinois State (117), Louisiana-Monroe (127), UTEP (152), North Texas (155), William & Mary (166) and UMKC (168).
