MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State senior Dalton Albertin was named the Mid-American Conference Tennis Player of the Week for the first time this season and third for his career. The conference officials announced today.
"I am very happy for Dalton," said Ball State head men's tennis coach Bill Richards. "He has played well all winter and has been a great leader by example with his work ethic and commitment."
Albertin went 2-0 at No. 1 singles earning victories over Brown and IUPUI. Albertin took down Michael Riechmann of Brown 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 10-8 Friday and then helped the Cardinals sweep in-state rival IUPUI Sunday after beating Jason Jaruvang 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) Sunday. Albertin also went 1-1 at the No. 1 doubles position with teammate Patrick Elliott.
The Ball State men's tennis team will continue non-conference action at home Feb. 20 when it hosts IPFW and Indiana Tech in a double-header starting at 3 p.m. at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
