First Serve: Ball State women's tennis will host in-state rival Butler Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Cardinals are 5-1 overall which marks the best spring start for Ball State since the 2007-08 season. The match against Butler will be dedicated to Cancer Awareness with the Cardinals wearing t-shirts to supports the cause.
Last Serve: The Cardinals won back-to-back matches last weekend over Wright State (7-0) and Dayton (5-2) in Dayton, Ohio. True Ball State freshman Courtney Earnest went 2-0 at No. 3 singles. Earnest leads the team with an unblemished 6-0 mark which is highlighted by a straight set victory over Big Ten foe Michigan State when she defeated Olga Chernova 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 position.
What's Next: Ball State women's tennis begins a seven match roadswing Friday when it first faces its second in-state rival of the season IPFW at 7 p.m. in Ft. Wayne. After that the Cardinals are on the road competing against Indiana (Feb. 10), Marquette (Feb. 17), Youngstown State (Feb. 23), Cleveland State (Feb. 24), James Madison (March 4) and Florida Gulf Coast (March 15).
