MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State junior Majok Majok was named Monday as the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for men's basketball.
It marks the second player-of-the-week award for Majok this season and the fourth for a Ball State player. Teammate Jesse Berry is also a two-time winner.
Majok averaged 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week, shooting 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the floor and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the free throw line, to help the Cardinals split a pair of MAC games.
The junior forward led all players with 21 points and eight rebounds Saturday at Miami University, helping Ball State to an 82-62 win for just their second road victory over the RedHawks since 1992. He had 13 of his points and six of his rebounds in the second half.
Earlier in the week, Majok scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in a loss against Buffalo despite being limited to a season-low 19 minutes because of foul trouble.
Majok has now scored in double figures in five straight MAC games, including two performances with more than 20 points. He is one of 16 players in the nation averaging a double-double for the season at 12.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
Several other Cardinals also turned in impressive weeks statistically. Jauwan Scaife averaged 16.0 points over the two games and handed out a career-high seven assists Saturday at Miami. Chris Bond averaged 12.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals per game. Berry averaged 14.5 points, and he knocked down a career-best six 3-pointers in the Miami game.
Majok was also named the MAC West Player of the Week on Dec. 10, while Berry won the award on Nov. 12 and Jan. 7.
Ball State (8-10, 2-4 MAC) hosts MAC West foe Toledo for a 7 p.m. tipoff Wednesday at Worthen Arena. The Cardinals have three of their next four games at home.
