Men's S&D Finish Third at Butler Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS – The Ball State men’s swimming and diving teams finished third at the Butler Invitational Sunday afternoon, scoring 546 points. University of Wisconsin Green Bay and Xavier University finished ahead of the Cardinals.

The 200 medley relay of Michael Weber, Joseph Morris, Drew Tharp and Michael Oaks topped the field with a time of 1:34.66.

Weber claimed an individual victory in the 100 back with a time of 51.41. Tucker Hale and Drew Sullenbarger finished eighth and ninth with times of 55.41 and 55.47. Cameron Watters turned in a time of 57.74 for 11th.

Morris once again came up victorious in the 100 breast, clocking a 56.75. Conner Snare turned in a 1:03.27 and David Wood earned a 1:03.57 for 12th and 13th place. Morris also won the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.16. Snare and Jonathan McCormick earned 10th and 12th with times of 2:16.22 and 2:19.23. Wood rounded out the Cardinals with a time of 2:22.67.

Tharp came away with first in the 200 fly, touching at 1:52.66. McCormick finished seventh with a time of 2:02.70, while Ethan Hall came in 11th with a time of 2:05.85.

Oaks won the 100 free with a time of 47.68. Cole Smith finished seventh with a 48.56, while Austin Goodman and Shane Brown earned 10th and 15th with times of 49.75 and 52.11.

In the men’s 1650 free, Andy Lamb finished seventh and Nicholas Stevens came in eighth with times of 17:04.77 and 17:10.88 respectively. In the 500 free, Stevens earned third place with a 4:50.57 while Lamb earned seventh at 4:53.54. Fenning and Watters earned 11th and 15th with times of 4:57.48 and 5:11.23. Oaks turned in a 1:44.58 200 free for third place, while Neal Fenning finished 11th with a time of 1:49.66. Austin Goodman and Shane Brown rounded out the field with times of 1:52.18 and 1:54.54. In the 50 free, Smith finished fifth with a time of 22.31. Goodman and Shane Brown finished eighth and 12th with times of 22.59 and 22.79. David Wood clocked a 24.38 in the race for 14th.

In the 200 back, Weber finished second with a time of 1:54.01. Sullenbarger came in eighth with a time of 2:00.13, Watters finished 13th at 2:03.92 and Hale clocked a 2:05.18 for 15th. In the 100 fly, Tharp finished second (51.08), Hall earned 10th (54.98), Sullenbarger came in 13th (57.33) and Lamb touched 15th (1:01.15). In the 400 IM, Snare finished sixth with a time of 4:22.66. McCormick and Hall earned 10th and 12th with times of 4:26.78 and 4:28.79.

The 400 free relay of Weber, Tharp, Oaks and Morris finished second with a time of 3:09.30.
